Tapia, CPA offers a workshop to the Vermont Society of Association Executives entitled “The Newly Revised Form 990 – An Overview”.  His presentation discusses current tax reporting issues as well as recent developments affecting tax-exempt trade, business, and professional associations.

Wallace W. Tapia, CPA addresses the Vermont Tax Practitioner’s Association in Montpelier, Vermont.  His presentation entitled “Tax Reporting for Nonprofit Organizations” covers the current and recently-revised reporting requirements imposed on tax-exempt organizations.

Tapia, CPA serves on the faculty for a program entitled “How To Keep Tax-Exempt Organizations in Compliance” sponsored by National Business Institute.  The day-long seminar covers the accounting, tax, and management responsibilities imposed on Vermont nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations.

Wallace W. Tapia, CPA offers a presentation to the Vermont Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives entitled “Tax Issues for Chambers of Commerce” outlining the reporting and operating requirements for such organizations.

Wallace W. Tapia and William S. Huckabay, CPA’s speak at the annual meeting of the national Pedigreed Livestock Council held in Burlington, Vermont concerning “The Fiduciary Duties of Nonprofit Board Members”.  Their presentation covers current management and reporting issues facing such Boards, including enhanced transparence and public scrutiny of nonprofit organizations.

Wallace W. Tapia, CPA provides testimony before the Vermont House Ways and Means Committee on proposed legislation which would impose a State income tax on nonprofit organizations conducting “Unrelated  Business” activities in Vermont.

 

 

 

October, 2004

 

William S. Huckabay, CPA offers a workshop presentation in Stowe, Vermont to the Vermont Council of Developmental and Mental Health Services Chief Financial Officers discussing the implications of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for nonprofit organization CFO’s including related internal control, disclosure, and accounting considerations.

Wallace W. Tapia, CPA serves as co-presenter of a program “Accountability and Disclosure – A Workshop for Executive Directors and Board Members” held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting and Conference of the Vermont Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations held in Stowe, Vermont.

Wallace W. Tapia, CPA serves on the faculty for a seminar sponsored by the National Business Institute entitled “Vermont Charitable Nonprofits”. The seminar focuses on the reporting and organizational considerations associated with operating nonprofit organizations in Vermont.

September, 2004

 

Wallace W. Tapia, CPA serves as co-instructor with Vermont Secretary of State Deborah L. Markowitz for a workshop sponsored by the Vermont Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations (VANPO) entitled “Advocacy 101 – What the Law Allows”.  The program describes state and federal regulation of lobbying and election year activity by nonprofit organizations.

Wallace W. Tapia, CPA testifies before the Vermont House Government Operations Committee on various proposed legislation aimed at improving nonprofit capacity-building and imposing new disclosure and reporting requirements on Vermont nonprofit organizations.
